To follow up his first release for Figure, the ‘Random Diversity’ EP, Mikael Jonasson is back with yet more floor burning infected techno cuts. Mikael is really building up his own intricate sound characterised by expert sound design and so much attention to detail. Artistry through techno, 2011 style!
The dirty, burgeoning stomp of ‘Morphogenesis’ is a real figure-approved monster. Raw, textural growls and bass thunder along, punctuated by freaky shuffling ripples and some rather heavy drum action.
Morphing and pitching like a runaway train, ‘Abducted’ takes yet more freaky tones and sci-fi pulses as the tension rises. Solid and prescribed yet spooky and unpredictable, this B side packs a serious punch besides its filmic, atmospheric qualities.
As a digital bonus Mikael has included ‘Natural Cause’, a rolling, breaky cut that snakes, shakes and filters around the audio spectrum with some great melodic elements building amongst an apocalyptic world.
